Zambia National Mens’ Network for Gender and Development shames solicitation of sexual favours from aspiring female candidates

Written by on January 31, 2021

The Zambia National Men’s Network for Gender and Development says male politicians soliciting sexual favors from aspiring female candidates ahead of the August 2021 elections are criminals and should be exposed.

Organizations’ National Coordinator, Nelson Banda noted that the conduct of abusing women compromises the Zambian constitution and undermines the nations’ commitment to regional and international protocols such as the SADC and AU protocols on eliminating all forms of discrimination against women.

Mr Banda said it shameful that some male politicians are asking for sexual favors as a prerequisite for female candidates to be adopted as contenders for elective positions despite the fact that women have the constitutional right to do so.

Mr Banda said political parties involved in the perpetuation of the vice should not be entrusted with running the national affairs.
