Government has announced a waiver on excise duty and other associated taxes on imported medical and pharmaceutical products and equipment to help fight the coronavirus.
Minister of Commerce Trade and Industry Christopher Yaluma said the waiver is aimed at speeding up entry of medical equipment and provide them to members of the Public.
Speaking at a joint media briefing with the Ministry of Tourism and Information today, Mr Yaluma said the Business sector has been negatively affected by the coronavirus causing low production in most businesses especially the mining sector.
Mr Yaluma however noted that despite the negative impact, the pandemic has come with some opportunities such as electronic learning which they intend to formalise in the country post the COVID-19 era.
And Tourism and Arts Minister Ronald Chitotela said the tourism industry has equally been affected by the coronavirus and anticipated a total revenue loss of 460 million Dollars.
