Lack of Grade 12 School Certificate forces women to withdraw from August 12th race

Written by on May 6, 2021

The Zambia National Women’s Lobby says the Grade 12 School Certificate requirement for individuals aspiring for political office has negatively impacted the aspirations of women candidates in this year’s general elections.

Zambia National Women’s Lobby Executive Director, Juliet Chibuta says this requirement has forced a lot of women that do not have Grade 12 School Certificates to withdraw their candidacy from the race.

Commenting on the few women that have been adopted by the Patriotic Front in constituencies that have so far announced their candidates, Mrs. Chibuta said achieving equal representation in decision making positions will be a challenge if the current situation prevails.
