The Resident Doctors Association of Zambia is elated with the allocation of 8.7 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to Zambia by the African Union.
The vaccine from Pfizer, Johnson and Johnson and AstraZeneca has been allocated under the COVID-19 African Vaccine Acquisition Task Team, a platform which has been created to ensure that up to 60% of Africa’s population is vaccinated against the Coronavirus by December this year.
Association President Dr. Isaac Sakala says 8.7 million doses is a significant number and that it has come at the right time when the nation is grappling with high numbers of COVID-19 cases and deaths.
Dr Sakala has urged the Ministry of Health and the media to ensure that the nation is adequately informed about the COVID-19 vaccines to dispel myths about them.
