South Africa mourns Mthembu

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the death of prominent South African politician Jackson Mthembu. Mr. Mthembu is said to have died of Covid-related complications.
Mr. Mthembu was a parliamentarian and long-serving member of the governing African National Congress who had since 2019 been serving as a minister in the presidency. He worked his way up the ranks over the years and has been described as a man of integrity.
In his tribute, President Ramaphosa said the 62-year-old was “an exemplary leader” and “life-long champion of democracy”.
