The Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) has called for enhanced stakeholder awareness on climate change and its effects on the environment and people’s livelihood.
Speaking during a stakeholder awareness meetings in selected districts of Eastern Province, ZEMA Acting Manager Corporate Affairs, Friday Phiri said public awareness is cardinal in catalyzing climate action.
Mr. Phiri said it is for this reason that ZEMA is jointly conducting stakeholder awareness on the country’s Third National Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change with the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
He explained that as a Party to the UNFCCC, Zambia is required to report on steps that the country is taking or plans to take to combat climate change, and this process is undertaken through National Communications.
