Zesco loses K1.6 million in vandalism

Power utility ZESCO limited has recorded a total of 261 cases of vandalism in the first quarter of 2020 worth over K1.6 million.

Hazel Zulu, the Zesco Public Relations Manager says the most vandalised items were transmission towers, transformers and copper cables, saying the highest number of incidences were recorded on the Copperbelt, Southern, North-Western and Lusaka provinces.

Mrs. Zulu says ZESCO also recorded a total of 47 arrests in the period under review, adding that 12 convictions were successfully secured while 41 cases are still active in the Courts of Law.
