ZRA intercepts two more trucks laden with second-hand clothes

The Zambia Revenue Authority has intercepted another 2 trucks carrying second-hand clothes worth over K1.4 million. The consignments were smuggled into Zambia using fake documentation.

ZRA Corporate Communications Manager, Topsy Sikalinda said alert ZRA officers intercepted the consignments between Kapiri and Mkushi and during inspection of the trucks and their cargo, the drivers presented fake documents to the officers.

Mr Sikalinda said investigations have revealed that this is an outright case of smuggling, contrary to the Customs and Excise Act, Chapter 322 of the Laws of Zambia.

He added that all the smuggled goods have been seized and forfeited to the state including the trucks used to transport them while the perpetrators will be prosecuted.
