Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa has closed a Chinese owned barbershop at Arcades shopping mall for discriminating against blacks and displaying their prices in Chinese contrary to the Food and Health Act.
This comes barely three days after the mayor indefinitely closed down a Chinese restaurant in Long acres on similar charges.
Mr. Sampa said he moved in after receiving a tip off from a whistle blower who was charged K300 to have his son’s hair cut but was told the barbershop was closed after he agreed to pay.
He explains that upon inspecting the premise, it was established that nearly everything was labelled in Chinese writings and not English as prescribed by the law.
Mr. Sampa has warned the he will not condone any business segregating their customers based on their skin colour.
