Defective medical supplies that enter the market should to be recalled – Health Minister
Written by Marketing on January 18, 2021
Health Minister Dr. Jonas Chanda has implored the Zambia Medicines and Regulatory Authority and Medical Stores Limited to be more vigilant and ensure that only medical supplies that meet the required standards are imported into the country.
Dr. Chanda says his ministry exists to protect the good of the public and would allow defective medical supplies to be recalled at the prompting of parliament. He says any defective medical supplies that enter the market should to be recalled if ZAMRA and MSL are to live up to their mandate.
ZAMRA and MSL have recently come under fire from the public after they allowed the distribution of defective medical supplies including condoms, medical gloves and paracetamol among others supplied to the Ministry of Health by Honey Bee Pharmacy.
