The National Action for Quality Education in Zambia is gravely disappointed that the Ministry of General Education has abandoned more than two thousand teachers it promised to sponsor for training at St. Eugene University.
Aaron Chansa, the NAQEZ Executive Director says in 2014, the Ministry signed a Memorandum of Understanding with University for training than 2000 government teachers in Mathematics and Sciences.
Mr. Chansa says shockingly the Ministry stopped paying fees on behalf of the teachers just after the second semester while the University continued to provide the service until the teachers completed the scheduled training in 2017.
He has since called upon the Minister of General Education David Mabumba to urgently resolve this matter as the affected teachers have run out of patience.
And Mr. Chansa has demanded for an explanation why a lot of deserving teachers have stopped receiving responsibility allowance, saying the situation has the potential to disorient thousands of teachers in the country if not corrected.
