Six former Livingstone City Council employees get 1 year imprisonment with hard labour

Six former Livingstone City Council employees have been convicted and sentenced to 1 year imprisonment with hard labour suspended for six months.


The convicts were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission in March 2018 on a charge of Abuse of Authority of Office contrary to the Anti-Corruption Act Number 3 of 2012.

Drug Enforcement Commission, Acting Spokesperson, Queen Chibwe, said Kalomo Resident Magistrate, Likando Matakala sitting at Livingstone Subordinate Court found the six guilty of willful failure to declare interest during a process of land allocation at Livingstone City Council and convicted them accordingly.


Mrs. Kabwe said the sentence is with effect from 25th March 2021 and that the 12 other co-accused individuals have been acquitted of the charges
