Parliament has heard that a suspect believed to be behind the shooting to death of state prosecutor, Nsama Nsama and UPND sympathizer, Joseph Kaunda last month has been identified and arrested.
The victims died of gunshot wounds after police officers were deployed to disperse a crowd that gathered to show their support to UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema who appeared for questioning at the Police Headquarters.
Delivering a ministerial statement in parliament yesterday, Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo could however not state whether the suspected killer is a police officer or not but said the Director of Public Prosecutions is currently studying the matter.
Mr Kampyongo said to prevent a recurrence of similar incidents in future; selected police officers have since undergone refresher courses in crowd management.
He has urged police officers to exhibit high levels of discipline when dealing with the public and has warned that government will not shield anyone for acting outside the law.
