Vice President calls for peaceful campaigns as Parliament comes to a close

In her farewell message to Parliament which closes comes to a close today, Vice President Inonge Wina on Tuesday called on all political players in the country to conduct their campaigns in a peaceful manner in order to guarantee free and fair elections.

The Vice President said all aspiring candidates must ensure that their campaigns are issued based and devoid of character assassination, insults and mudslinging. Mrs. Wina also advised aspiring candidates to ensure that they adhere to the three (3) golden rules of preventing Covid-19 namely hand washing, masking up and sanitizing to prevent the spread of the disease during campaigns.

In a related matter, Inspector General of Police, Kakoma Kanganja said the Zambia Police Service is committed to ensuring that it provides a conducive environment for all political parties participating in the forthcoming elections. Mr. Kanganja however warned that this will not be possible if political players do not commit to conducting peaceful political activities and urged leaders of all political parties at all levels to take lead in preaching peace to their supporters.
