The Zambia Revenue Authority has suspended the processing of rebates under the Public Benefit Organization regulation 88A of the Customs and Excise General Regulations.

This has been done to ensure that there is compliance among the over 350 registered Public Benefit Organizations who directly benefit from this rebate.

Topsy Sikalinda, the ZRA Corporate Communications Manager however regrets that some of these BPO’s are abusing the facility by importing various goods which are not being used for the intended purpose.

Mr. Sikalinda said the Authority will now proceed to do a compliance audit review on all the Public Benefit Organizations and will immediately lift the suspension on all complaint BPO’s.

He said the Non-compliant Public Benefit organizations will remain suspended till all requirement are fully met.

Mr. Sikalinda explains that this review exercise of compliance verification will commence today and will be completed within a period of three months.
